Vieques Bio Bay*

Vieques Bioluminescent Bay!

Night trip (including Dinner)

"Hidden along the Caribbean coast in Vieques Island is one of the most spectacular Bioluminescent Bays in the world in Mosquito bay. The mysterious blue-green light is created by micro-organisms which thrive in an environment uniquely suited to their needs. A trip into the bay on a balmy night is a magical experience. Fish flash by in dark water like floating stardust."

Aboard one of our power catamarans which make the fast transit to Vieques, guests will enjoy the breathtaking views of Puerto Rico’s east coast, while the sun sets behind the mountains of El Yunque. Piña coladas, rum punch, and beverages are served on board during our passage to the small town of Isabel Segunda in Vieques.  From here we travel by van to the south side of the island – town of Esperanza to a casual restaurant for a local-style dinner at the Island Adventures Eco-Center. (On occasion we will do the bay tour first, and have dinner AFTER the tour. Please check in with us on the day of the excursion to confirm this and your check in time.) From Island Adventures Eco-Center you'll board their “Magic Bio bay School Bus” for a trip down a bumpy dirt road to the bay. At the shore we will board an electric powered pontoon boat that will take us through the amazing waters of Puerto Mosquito in Vieques Island, with an expert and knowledgeable guide.

*We don’t offer Kayaks, but occasionally can offer Peddle boats, please check with us*.

The bilingual guided tour will explain the fragile ecology of the plants and animals of the bay, give interpretive star lectures, and then park the boat in an area of high bioluminescent concentration, where the crew will bring a couple of buckets of water on board so that you can experience the sparkles all over your arms and legs. Also there is a ladder so whoever wants to can stick their hands and feet right in the water. Please wear a bathing suit under your clothes if you like and bring a towel. We also ask that you do not wear insect repellent or any other lotions (the dynoflagellates are very sensitive!) The DNR (Department of Natural Resources) no longer allows swimming in the Bioluminescent Bay.

Guests should check in at the marina a half hour before the trip time, and you may want to bring cash to purchase anything extra at the restaurant or souvenir shop.
